Yolo Popcorn
A Vermont Popcorn Company
How It Started
The Marriage of Iowa Popcorn
& Vermont Maple
Iowa could be called the popcorn capital of America. During the American farm crisis of the 1980’s, Peter Gutgsell lamented the fact that few businesses were adding value in agriculture. Having grown up in Iowa and since transplanted to Vermont, Peter imagined a unique way to showcase the agricultural specialties of his two home states: Iowa popcorn together with Vermont maple.
From Our Family to Yours
Yolo has always been a labor of love for our family. We like to believe that love finds its way into every bag of popcorn we produce. Our hope is that our products serve as a vehicle to bring people together, because at the end of the day, you only live once.

We care deeply about environmental stewardship and strive to create an amazing and enjoyable product with as little impact on the environment as possible. Any kernels or seasoning that don’t make it into our product are donated to local livestock farmers for animal feed, our boxes and packaging are recycled whenever possible, and no effluents are produced from production whatsoever.
Additionally, we strive to support local organizations and events in Vermont and throughout the New England area.
